theory of natural borders

There are state borders, and there are natural ones, sometimes they coincide. A forest turning into a field is an example of a natural boundary where one biocenosis ends and another begins. There are natural boundaries, such as rivers or mountains, but their use in geography is arbitrary. Most often, this is the result of political decisions and benefits. The definition of boundaries and categorization of space often depend on cultural and social contexts.
