The city of L. is any small city in Kazakhstan, in which, it would seem, there is nothing interesting. But what is interesting? We often think of it as spectacular, stunning, or great. Lisakovsk is in the Kostanay region, where I have thought of going for 19 years (and finally did). A pen pal lived there. I sent letters and parcels to L., and it seemed that friendship was developing with the city, too. A friend said it was boring and there was nothing to do. I question stereotypes and look for interest in the mundane. The automatism of routine disappears if you come up with new interactions. With inconvenience, through performances, I actively and consciously communicate with the city. Through art as an alternative activity, a typical city acquires a new history.
